hello familia! i'm not learning spanish just in case you were wondering.... but ya this week was really good we got a baptism set up for this sunday with a boy named taylor who is 16! it was really cool to invite him to be baptized haha the spirit was really strong and you can tell he wants this. its just hard for him because he has a lot of family giving him a hard time about it so we are going to visit with a lot this week to get him ready and to encourage him on his decision but ya!
soooo i think we would fit in here because people here worship their dogs! haha like seriously.. they name them human names like carl and molly and jacob and stuff haahah its sooo funny cause we'll go up to a door and knock and theres always a dog.. ALWAYS. and sometimes the dog will run out and then the people will be like "oh dang! joshua! joshua! get back in here!" and i'm looking around for a little boy or something and its there dog! haha it cracks me up! but ya and people LOVE all of this weird lawn art like orbs, and frog statues and allllllll of this junk! we drove past this house that had a front yard about the size of a soccer field and it was filled with tires and pots and yard gnomes and statues of EVERY kind sorted out into little categories and it was all decorated hahah i took a picture so hopefully i'll be able to get some printed and sent off in the next couple of weeks but it was insane! haha and blackberries are like the best thing ever to everyone here cause they grow wild and you can just pick them whenever so peole go crazy with pies and coblers and alll of these crazy things they make haha
soo theres a lady in our ward named heather holmen haha weird huh?? and she just got called as a ward missionary so she will be working with us a lot and everyone keeps getting confused and saying "wait theres two holmans now!?" its funny. everyone in the ward is really friendly and was super excited to see and meet me haha it was weird.. i've said the words "i'm from mesa arizona" like a thousand times... haha but ya the ward is really awesome. we actually go to two wards a family ward and a singles ward and i'm soooo glad i have a missionary tag on so i'm not bait at the singles word ahah cause there are some weirdos... one guys name is james bond hahaha so weird!
oh man sooooo here comes the highlight of the week and i'm going to try and type fast so sorry for the typos! okay so we are tracting in this ampartment complex and the first door we knock on a lady answer and the first thing she says is "really?" and we are like uhhhh what? and she's says "seriously? everytime you guys always show up!" and we are like what is she talking about. and she continues and is like "you all are creepy!" and so then i'm like " what do you mean??" and she's like "everytime i'm at this point in my life mormon missionaries knock on my door!" and so we get talking to her and she invites us in to tell us some of her "creepy" stories soooo i'll give you some background on her. basically she has had 7 kids. three have died and out of the last four 2 are severely autistica one is developing mentally slow and the other one is a genius and of the kids that are alive they are all under the age of
7. sooo she has her hands full! and her house smells like urine and mold... and poop... and theres a bunny running around the house... anyways so she has us sit down and tells us these stories about how missionaries keep appearing in her life and by the way they aren't creepy stories its just basically us tracting into her allllll the time no matter where she moves so she tells us this story of when t\she first me missionaries and they basically do the whole you go to my church and i'll go to your church thing and her church was first so they go to this nondenominational church and the whole time they are there the missionaries are just getting bashed and harrassed and the pastor changes the sermon and decides to talk abouthow they are going to build a steeple on there church bigger than ours... haha well the missionaries bail out early cause they are so uncomfortable and maggi (thats her name) leaves as well and as she's driving she's thinking you know what i shouldve ssaid something to that pastor because i 'm so offended at how they treated the missionaries who are other christians and so she turns around and goes marching into the church to give this pastor a little piece of her mind. so she finds him and starts chewing him out and telling him how offended she was and all of this stuff and right as the pastor goes to open his mouth the fire alarm goes off! and maggi looks around her and there is smoke billowing into the room and she looks at the pastor dead in the face and says "well it looks like my job here is done." and then WALKS out of the church! and its like a movie scene haha she is walking out of this burning church with her head held high while there are people screaming and running and stuff hahah sooo nuts! wellllll the elders that were teaching here got transfered so she never got baptized and she moved shortly after that so she lost contact with the church. sooo after this story we offer to do some service for her cause her house is a disaster and she says ya so we agree to come the next day at 4. so we come the next day and man her house is disgusting so we start picking up some things and vacuum and do some dishes and my comp sis baylon is like "hey do you have a broom?" and maggi is like uhhh no. and she hands her this piece of paper to use and my comp bends down to start and looks under the dishwasher and there is a legit poop on the floor!! hahahahaha it was like petrified it had been there so long! it was sooo gross hahaha my comp was like uhh theres a turd over here on the floor and maggi just told her to pick it up and throw it in the trash and i'm thinking uhhh go freaking flush that sucker cause that trash is gonna reek even more!! haha it was sooo funny but man it was nuts... but ya we've talked with her a lot about the church and she has a general knowledge of things but she has a big interest in deep doctrine like she wants the journal discourses and allllll of this stuff soo she will be a fun one to teach ahah welp that was my crazy story for the week!
sooo riley and khaled i met a whoooole family that does w.o.w hahaha like legitimately does it! so if you run into a memeber named wowbaby thats the mom that we teach ahahah so funny she has lots of accounts for it but that is her main one and she is a healer and goes around healing people after they fight haha oh man i was trying so hard not to laugh when she was telling me! but hey there's a bad side to this so i guess her husbands dad is really into it that he basically eats and sleeps and plays that game! like no joke. he never leaves the home or anything... and he's 80 years old! man so crazy...
welll i hope everything went well while mom and dad were gone this week! mom you should make everyone at least email me.... cause i didn't get like anything this week.. and i know my siblings know how to use computers and it takes two secinds to write one... anyways have a great week! and i love you and miss you!!
