mom! my birthday day went like this: so the alarm went of and ikes is like "oh hey happy birthday" in this raspy/excited/ morning voice haha and then i went and got ready and ikes had made me breakfast haha so i ate breakfast then we did our comp and personal study and then we went about our day doing missionary work haha and then at about 8 o'clock we went to go pick up the bike elders to go somewhere and they said they were in the church library and so i go and open the door and all of the elders in our zone jump out and scare me and yell surprise! so basically they threw a surprise party for me in the church library haha it was way funny! i was way surprised and it caught me off guard! but i was way happy! and they made me wear this ridiculous hat and i had to eat my cake with out any hands... ya they basically treat me like another elder haha so then after that we all went to a members house to have a bonfire and the members were like oh we hear its someones birthday and they are looking at me and ikes cause they heard it was a sister and i was like "oh its mine" and the members asked what my name was and where i was from (i dont know why they didn't just read my name tag...) and one of the elders (elder willis) was like oh her name is janika, he likes playing jokes. and before i could even say no its not! they members were like "ohh that is such a pretty name! janika holman! happy birthday janika!" and so i was just like whatever its fine haha and so at the very end of our stay they all sang me happy birthday and of course the elders sang happy birthday to janika and not holman and at the end of the song i was like "my name is not janika!" and the members were like "what.? its not." and they were offended that we had all been playing this joke on them all night cause they really thought that was my first name. hahaha it was funny... it was probably one of those things where you had to be there.... haha but yes i had a very good birthday and thank you for the present! and thank you to everyone else who sent me stuff shout out to the whimpey trio :) and my granmda :) and jorge. haha
so yes i did eat with sister ulrichs brother! haha i think i scared them cause i kinda really freaked out when i found out that they knew the ulrichs haha but ya it was way crazy! i did NOT expect to serve in their ward! but hey now i am!
so donald was baptized on saturday! woooo! it was great! he had the hugest smile! i will send pictures. he bore his testimony after he was baptized and it was awesome. he is even more solid then my pride and joy tim haha
on sunday we had one of the most spiritual lessons i've ever had with an investigator named caitlin. she is 16 and has been coming to church and seminary with her friends. she has had this fear of being baptized cause she is afraid that when she moves away from her friends that she wont go to church anymore. so we talked with her and shared a movie about Jesus and then explained the importance of following Him. and we were really trying to help her see why following the Savior is so important. and the spirit was way strong and every question that i asked and all of the answers we would give just flowed so well and it was amazing to just see God use us as his tools and all we needed was to open our mouths. her only hold up now is she wants to learn more about joseph smith. so next lesson we are teaching her about him.
man mom you have to try this recipe for this bread that this member made for us! it is banana bread with reeses peanut butter cups in it! and it is (as you would say) DIVINE! it SOOO good.... so right next to our church building there is this curry restaurant and it ALWAYS smells like curry by our church.. and it reminds me of the smell of beef ramen.. so ive been eating a lot of that cause it makes me hungry....
well it sounds like you are going to have a way fun trip to thailand! i promise when i get home we will have more mom and betty time (ps ikes saw that you call me betty and she was like what the..? what is your real name?? and now she doesn't believe me that its taylor.... haha) well i love you and thank you for the letters and packages! you are the best! oh hey is there any way i can get on a list or something to where i can get kon's emails each week?
