hey mom!
to answer some of your questions about how members can best help recent converts. the best was is invites to church and activies, just simply say hello to them at church, and come to their baptism. president hinckley says one of the things that every new member of the church needs is friends. you have no idea how far a simple hello can go. it means a lot to them and then they feel that they are missed when they don't come to church. but i would agree with you that sometimes it is much easier to baptize them then to get the member on board to fellowship haha
i'm super jealous you get to paint with out me! a couple of weeks ago we helped a girl from the young single adult ward paint part of her house and i couldve stayed there all day! haha i loved it. i kept asking her if there was anything else she wanted painted haha you'll have to be sure to send me pictures of the before and after! it all sounds super cute! i wish we could paint our apartment... haha it looks so boring... but we wouldn't have the time or the money. i at least have my desk area cute haha you guys are doing ANOTHER ironman... i shouldve known! i thought you swore you would never do st george again! man when khaled leaves on his mission and if ou guys do another one riley and jorge will be home alone alot..... hahaha they will probably have to be raised by wolves or something cause the training takes up 3/4 of your day! and the other 1/4 you gotta eat and sleep haha i'm just kidding...
this week we had a miracle lesson with sonia and her two boys joseph and pablo!! we talked about eternal families and i used our little "picture goals" as a teaching tool. you know where we find pictures that represent the goals we want to achieve so that everytime we see that picture we assosciate it with a goal we have. well i did that for their family and the end goal was eternal family and i used a picuter of the temple. and then we made steps they have to takem as a family to reach that goal and we made pictures for baptism and faith and repentance and recieving the holy ghost and it was AWESOME!! so awesome that sister finnegan had to call and tell you hahaha she is so funny with her scottish accent! she said oh your mother is such a dear. she was glad to talk to you! one of my favorite part of the lesson we gave to them was when i asked pablo (who is 10) how he would feel if he could live with his family for eternity and without hesitation he said "eternally grateful!" haha it was so cute! it was an awesome lesson. we meet with them tomorrow and i hope it goes as well as last week!
oh did you get that video from sister fry?? she is so awesome! oh since your networking skills are getting up to par you should look at this facebook page called crochet 4 cause. i want one of the hats the lady makes! they are so cute! haha a member was telling us about her and she was like have your mom look on facebook for you so i said okay!
so uhhhh funny story you know franz? well turns out his name is really PHONZ hahahahaha uhhh he has a really strong accent so when me and sister baylon found him we thought thats what he said! we were teaching him a lesson and i was writing on the chalk board and i drew a stick figure of him and was like this is franz and i wrote his "name" above his little stick figure and hes like "franz? who is franz??" and i was like "you are you weirdo!" and he's like "thats not my name!" hahahah we laughed and then he corrected me and i felt like a fool..... he is going to get baptized this weekend cause he was out of town this past weekend but we had a good laugh and i felt retarded!
so we got a phone call from this lady this past week and she left a message on our phone and it went like this: "hello my name is alana broom. a boy named zach gave me your number inside a book of mormon he gave me. and i am deeply touched by the book. i wanted to know if you had heard from zach and knew how he was doing and if you could pray for me cause i'm looking for a new job, a house and food for the winter. i hope to hear from you" and so i call her back and we talked a little bit and she is a big Jesus lover and is a little weird... hahah we are supposed to meet with her sometime this week but one of the times we called her we just got her answering machine and it says'hello you've reached alana's magical (something)" and then she proceeded to say a magical spell and then there was a very weird sound that sounded like a toy magical wand...... my companion was like i think i just got cursed... haha so i'm guessing she's a little "cray cray" (in the words of sister baylon) meaning crazy haha so i really hope i get to meet with her cause i will have a great story i'm sure!
so will got baptized yesterday!!! WOOOOOOOO! he is so great i love it! he loves the church and everything that comes with it! he was so happy! i'll be sure to send pictures!
so we had a sisters conference on friday. its where all of the sister missionaries from our mission get together at the mission home and we have a fun night and a little conference. it was super fun! they took all 30 of us to dinner and to see a play that one of the stakes was doing. and then we stayed up way to late and had a super sugary breakfast and a devotional and it was just way fun! i wa happy to see sister baylon of course. she cracks me up! anywhoooo so i guess there is a sister serving here that is in scott and peggy's ward! her name is sister judy so you'll have to ask them about it! oh i forgot to say something so funny about wills baptism! so we always have little refreshments after cause its a great way for people to stay around and talk and stuff and sister finnegan usually buys something or makes it. so this time she bought some little treats from costco and it was just like a tin filled with assorted treats and a member eats one of them and he's like woah that definitely has coffee in it hahaha and so we had to dispose of half of the treats that had coffee in it! haha and will had just stopped drinking coffee a few days before and i noticed her kept eating a bunch of those ones and now i know why the little butt!! haha we were laughing
well this week has been super busy and filled with miracles! i can't believe Kon is at the mtc already! so nuts.... hey did dad see theres a new warren miller skii movie out? (i just saw a preview for it at the mall food court) ahhh i thought of something you could buy me if you were feeling really generous.... :) at zumiez they have a bajillion obey brand sweaters.... well at least here they do... so just an idea hahah but you don't really have to buy me anything to be 150% honest. i am completely happy with what i have.
